Sunday, August 23, 2009 Maplewood Cemetery

We visited beautiful Maplewood Cemetery in nearby Gordonsville Virginia this weekend.

We visited this beautiful and peaceful place several times while we were dating.
This bench is where I proposed to my dear wife (and she accepted!).

I love the lichen on the tree. We were in Petersburg this past week and saw some of the same kinds of things.

Great headstones.

How romantic! :0)

Love the pics of the cemetery. My Fav is the tombstone with the ivy growing on it & yucca growing by it.

OOhhh LOVE CEMETERIES!! How wonderful... your photos are great but I have found that graveyard gates tend to be very special in many cemerteries!! SO, your first picture is one of my favorites!

Definately an interesting p[lace to propose lol. The grave stones & other stone work, this is the thing about cemeteries beyond the spooky aspects most people tend to accosiate with such places.

The ancient granites & marbles produce some fantastic moulds & fungis growths over the centuries. When seen in just the right light they can be very inspiring.

Love the blog, love the art. I am trying out a way of getting my own blog noticed more. Heres how i am doing it. I grab a few screen shots of my blog then spliced together a simple video around 4 minutes long then put it on YouTube. You can see what i mean here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6BVh8L0mB14.

It might work it might not, worth a try though. A great blog such as this should get all the extra attention it desserves. Keep the great art coming

Hey Folks thanks for all the comments! Caroline took most of the photos. Sycamore Moon, that 'tree' is actually a super old headstone! Thanks for the tips Jonty I appreciate that. Always a pleasure to see you pop in CK. Have a good weekend all!
